Pregnancy is one of the most magical and transformative experiences in a woman’s life, but it can also be overwhelming and isolating. Suddenly you’re responsible for a new life, your body is undergoing huge changes, and everyone seems to have an opinion about what you should or shouldn’t be doing. Fear and anxiety can creep in, creating tension in your body which can make your pregnancy less enjoyable and lead to a longer and more difficult birth.

Practising yoga during your pregnancy can help to counter this, providing you with tools to help you relax and ease tension, calm your mind, and connect deeply with yourself and your baby. Pregnancy yoga helps prepare you for an active birth – Opening your body, and building stamina. It teaches you how to use your breath to control your body’s response and to guide you through the waves of your labour, encouraging a shorter and easier birth.

As well as easing the physical symptoms of pregnancy and improving posture and circulation, pregnancy yoga can reduce prenatal anxiety and depression, and decrease the risk of preterm labour. The benefits also extend to your baby – helping with their mental and physical development, enhancing their wellbeing, and boosting their immunity in later life.

What you can expect from our Pregnancy Yoga Course:

  • Small group size – maximum of 4 attendees to ensure postures and guidance tailored specifically for you.

  • Holistic approach to your pregnancy – which weaves physical, emotional, and spiritual elements to support you and your growing baby.
  • Harness the power of your breath – learn breath techniques to help you relax, find more space in your body, nourish you and your baby, and assist you during labour and in early motherhood.
  • Learn how to activate your parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest) & stimulate oxytocin production – to encourage an easier birth which utilises your body’s natural pain management.
  • Step into your power – learn to listen to your sacred, feminine intuition and trust the power of your body.
  • Build physical tone and stamina – you’ll build elasticity in your muscles and open your body to assist you during pregnancy and birth. You’ll practice active birthing positions which complement your physiology.
  • Pelvic floor awareness – you’ll learn techniques to bring awareness, integrity, and suppleness into your pelvic floor.
  • Postures and movement designed to ease symptoms associated with pregnancy (such as pelvic girdle pain, back pain, fatigue, aching joints, & insomnia) improve your posture and circulation.
  • Time to relax and let go of doing – time dedicated for you to let go of doing and find space and stillness to connect with yourself and your baby.
  • Honour childbirth as a rite of passage – honour this profound transformation from maiden to mother and acknowledge the deep shift in identity which it brings.
